Do we actually need an Authorised Representative if we're a small company?

Yes, legally you do. If you sell goods into Europe from outside, the law requires an EU-based AR. Company size doesn't matter. Enforcement is increasing, not decreasing. And yes, this applies even if you sell online or through distributors. They will block listings without a compliant AR on file.

What's the difference between 24hour-AR and a cut-rate address service?
